Our Work
WCEPS uses lean startup principles to commercialize and disseminate products and services to impact education around the world. We like to work closely with the content creators to evaluate potential partnerships, develop business strategy, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Our partnerships extend to multiple disciplines at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with faculty, staff and students who are using rigorous research to create product and services that enhance teaching and learning both inside and outside the classroom.
WCEPS takes a flexible approach with partners to ensure the highest standard of quality. Research-based educational products and services come to us at various stages of development. We collaborate with partners in any way needed to maximize product or service effectiveness.
Examples of what we can do:
- Provide or help secure necessary startup funding
- Help determine ownership in copyright materials developed at a university
- Assist with technical product development and management
- Test product validation and market analysis to prove viability
- Implement products and manage partnerships
- Create and implement sales and marketing plans
- Billing and customer service
- Promotional services such as press releases, attending conferences, networking, and web, email, and social media marketing
- Legal services, including entity formation, licensing, and intellectual property protection
Examples of the products and services we currently provide:
-
WIDA: a series of products to help improve education for K-12 ESL students.
-
Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL): a survey designed to evaluate leadership teams in schools and give targeted feedback based on the results.
-
WebbAlign: a method for alignment studies and other alignment services.

AIW Intitute: supports schools and districts to enhance their teachers’ professional learning, and individual and collective capacity to engage students in meaningful, challenging work.
Quote
“WCEPS has been an invaluable resource in moving our CALL survey from a research project to a viable marketable product. Their ongoing commitment to our success and their support through product development, navigating the legal requirements of setting up a business, marketing and sales have been invaluable. I have no doubt that we would not have been able to pursue a successful transition from discovery to product without WCEPS' support!”
